The Challenge
Design a geothermal system to provide reliable, high-temperature process heating for a food manufacturing facility, replacing aging gas infrastructure. The system needed to deliver consistent temperatures while reducing carbon emissions.
Our Role
4EE conducted feasibility assessment and preliminary design for the ground source system, including thermal response testing and economic analysis. We evaluated multiple system configurations to optimise performance.
Technical Solution
High-temperature heat pump system with deep borehole field designed to deliver process temperatures while maintaining ground thermal balance. The design includes heat recovery from process waste streams.
Outcome
Feasibility study demonstrated attractive payback period, with full design engagement underway for implementation. The project will significantly reduce the facility's carbon footprint.
