The world is facing an energy trilemma around emissions reduction, low cost energy, and supply security. The solution is clean and cheap renewable energy. The three elements of large scale renewables are solar, wind and hydro. But what happens when the sun doesn’t shine, the wind doesn’t blow, or we run out of water? ... We harness thermal energy from the ground.

What is Geothermal?

In a close loop system, a liquid (typically water or a water-antifreeze solution) is circulated to exchange heat with the ground. This thermal energy is then upgraded by a ground source heat pump (GSHP) on the surface to provide space heating and cooling (and hot water) to a building or industrial process. It does so typically at higher yearly average efficiency that other traditional heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. Meaning that you not only save the planet, but save on your energy bills.
